After traipsing up and down close to 700 steps in the sweltering heat, under a punishing Indian sun and amidst wind, sand and dust…I totally get the hijab!

 The Hijab is the religious garbfor Muslim women. It wraps around your head and neck and may or may not cover the lower half of your face. I believe it originated as a practical solution to the desert conditions in the middle east as well as a way to ensure modesty.

 During my hike up Golconda Fort, I had my scarf wrapped around my head like I’ve seen the local women wear it - it may not have been the best fashion accessory, but nothing could have protected better against the elements.
